A Fictional World. Real Decisions. Evolving Consequences.
An independently created economic simulation universe, developed for strategic decision-making, collaborative learning, and the exploration of complex economic systems.
01. About EconMind World#
A World Built for Economic Decisions#
EconMind World is an original multiplayer economic strategy simulation created by Samuel and operated under EconMind. It brings economic theory, resource allocation, public policy, international trade, and collaborative decision-making into a continuously evolving fictional universe.
Here, participants are not merely observers of economic activity. They become decision-makers responsible for the development, stability, and strategic direction of their economies.
Participants must formulate national strategies, manage fiscal and monetary affairs, develop industries, allocate scarce resources, oversee labour and social development, and engage in international trade, diplomacy, cooperation, and competition.
Every economy operates under its own economic conditions, advantages, and constraints. Yet no economy exists in isolation.
Industrial expansion in one country may alter international demand for resources. Fiscal and monetary decisions may influence investment and production. Trade agreements may create new opportunities while introducing additional dependencies.
These decisions interact within a shared simulation environment, continuously influencing the circumstances under which subsequent decisions must be made.
The world follows no predetermined path. Its future is shaped by the decisions of its participants.
World Simulation & EconMind#
EconMind World forms an integral part of EconMind's broader educational and collaborative ecosystem, connecting economic learning, interactive modelling, research, and cross-school engagement.
EconMind's learning and research tools, including Models and Sandbox, allow participants to examine economic theories, investigate relationships between variables, and explore economic questions through structured experimentation.
World Simulation extends this approach by placing economic reasoning within a shared, multiplayer environment in which decisions carry consequences beyond the individual participant.
Students from different schools and economics societies can work together to govern fictional economies, coordinate policy decisions, negotiate with other teams, and evaluate competing economic strategies.
Season One is a distinct multiplayer economic strategy competition built upon EconMind World Simulation, not a continuation of EconMind's previous Simulation activities. EconMind independently organises and hosts Season One.
EconMind World is not confined to any single competition or season. It is conceived as a long-term simulation platform capable of supporting multiple economic scenarios, educational activities, and future seasons.
Its purpose is not simply to display economic outcomes, but to enable participants to understand how those outcomes emerge, what constraints shape them, and why different decisions lead to different consequences.
02. The World & Its Setting#
An Original World. An Unwritten Future.#
An Independent Fictional Universe#
EconMind World takes place in an independently constructed fictional universe, featuring its own geography, territories, national boundaries, natural resources, economic structures, political relationships, and imagined history.
It is neither a reproduction of Earth nor an alternative interpretation of real-world history.
The world possesses its own continents, oceans, cities, resource deposits, industrial centres, transportation networks, and international trading relationships.
Geographical conditions, resource endowments, productive capacity, economic institutions, and historical circumstances collectively establish the environments in which different economies operate.
Some economies possess substantial energy and mineral resources but lack the industrial capacity required to process them efficiently.
Others maintain relatively developed industrial systems while remaining dependent on external sources of raw materials, energy, or essential goods.
Still others confront fiscal constraints, limited infrastructure, labour shortages, or structural weaknesses that complicate their development.
These differences create distinct opportunities and strategic limitations.
An abundance of natural resources does not guarantee prosperity. Advanced industrial capacity does not eliminate economic vulnerability. No economy is exempt from scarcity, constraints, or difficult policy choices.
Each participating economy must determine its own development priorities and respond to the conditions it encounters.
Season One: A World After Conflict#
Seventy Economies. One Fragile World.
Season One begins in the aftermath of a major conflict that occurred exclusively within the fictional history of EconMind World.
The conflict has profoundly altered the world's economic order.
Industrial facilities, energy systems, transportation infrastructure, and established trade networks have suffered disruption in certain regions. International economic relationships have changed, while productive capacity and access to essential resources have become unevenly distributed.
The end of the conflict does not signify the restoration of economic stability.
Instead, it marks the beginning of a new period of reconstruction, adjustment, and strategic competition.
Seventy fictional economies enter this period from markedly different starting positions.
Some must restore essential infrastructure, rebuild industrial capacity, and secure basic resource supplies.
Others confront fiscal instability, monetary pressures, production shortages, or challenges involving employment and social development.
Economies that retain comparatively favourable productive conditions must nevertheless address structural dependencies, long-term growth, industrial transformation, and changing international relationships.
Every economy possesses its own strengths, vulnerabilities, and strategic opportunities.
Different Conditions. Different Strategies.#
Season One does not require all economies to pursue identical development models.
One country may prioritise industrial reconstruction, another may rely on international trade to overcome resource shortages, while a third may invest heavily in technological development, education, or long-term productive capacity.
Different strategies involve different costs, risks, and potential returns.
A policy that proves effective under one set of circumstances may perform differently elsewhere.
Participants must continuously assess domestic constraints, external developments, available resources, and the consequences of previous decisions.
Economies may compete for markets and strategic resources, negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements, establish trading relationships, or pursue broader forms of international cooperation.
Initial conditions establish the challenges of the simulation. They do not prescribe its final outcome.
History sets the stage. Decisions shape what comes next.
All geographical, historical, military, and geopolitical elements described in EconMind World are fictional. They are not intended to correspond to any actual country, historical event, armed conflict, or international situation.
General economic theory, research, and reference statistics may inform economic parameters. Such reference material is distinct from the fictional geography, national identities, history, and resource configurations; it does not assign a real-world counterpart to any fictional economy.
03. How the Simulation Works#
One Shared World. Interconnected Decisions.#
EconMind World operates through a shared economic simulation environment in which national policies, resource allocation, financial transactions, and international economic activity interact under common rules.
The platform maintains one authoritative World State: the official economic condition of the shared world. National dashboards, reports, and analytical views present authorised information derived from that state. They do not independently create funds, transfer resources, or determine settlement merely because a value appears on screen.
The actions of individual participants influence a persistent, interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated scenarios with predetermined answers.
70 Interconnected Economies#
Season One comprises 70 fictional economies, each possessing its own economic conditions, institutional responsibilities, productive capabilities, and development constraints.
These economies are connected through international trade, financial relationships, resource flows, and other forms of economic interaction.
The decisions of one economy may influence the opportunities, costs, and constraints faced by others.
Participants must therefore consider not only domestic economic conditions, but also the evolving international environment and the strategic behaviour of other economies.
Six Core Offices#
Each economy is administered through six core Offices, with distinct responsibilities and areas of authority.
Captain | National Coordination
Responsible for overall national strategy, the coordination of government Offices, the prioritisation of major policies, and responses to significant diplomatic or economic developments.
The Captain must reconcile competing policy objectives and coordinate decisions across the economy.
Finance | Fiscal Management
Responsible for government revenue, public expenditure, budgeting, public investment, and debt management.
Participants must evaluate fiscal constraints, resource requirements, and the potential consequences of government financial decisions.
Central Bank | Monetary & Financial Affairs
Responsible for monetary policy, banking stability, foreign-exchange reserves, and relevant financial functions within the simulation.
Participants must consider monetary stability, financial conditions, and interactions between monetary decisions and broader economic activity.
Trade | International Trade & Diplomacy
Responsible for trade policy, trade contracts, cross-border economic cooperation, negotiations, and relevant diplomatic activities.
Participants must identify trading opportunities, manage economic relationships, and evaluate the risks associated with international dependence.
Industry | Industry, Technology & Resources
Responsible for industrial production, resource development, energy allocation, productive facilities, and technological advancement.
Participants must coordinate essential inputs, productive capacity, investment requirements, and long-term industrial development.
Labour | Labour & Social Development
Responsible for labour supply, employment, education, workforce skills, and relevant social development policies.
Participants must consider the relationship between human capital, productive capacity, employment, and social outcomes.
Although each Office possesses distinct responsibilities, all six contribute to the development and operation of the same economy. Access follows the participant's verified identity, current membership, assigned economy, Office responsibilities, and valid authority. Coordination does not erase the boundaries between national, Office-private, and negotiation-party information.
An Interconnected Economic System#
Economic decisions within EconMind World operate through interconnected systems rather than isolated numerical adjustments.
Consider an economy seeking to expand steel production.
The Industry Office must assess existing facilities, required materials, available energy, and technological capacity.
If essential resources are unavailable domestically, the Trade Office may need to negotiate imports or establish supply arrangements.
If the proposed expansion requires public investment, the Finance Office must consider its funding and budgetary implications.
If insufficient qualified workers are available, the Labour Office must address employment and workforce requirements.
Monetary and financial conditions may also influence investment decisions, while increased industrial output may subsequently affect employment, trade demand, public finances, and other economic indicators.
A policy decision is therefore not equivalent to an immediate or guaranteed result.
Its consequences depend on the conditions under which it is executed and the wider systems with which it interacts.
Simulation Rules, Constraints & Settlement#
EconMind World maintains fiscal accounts, monetary and financial records, resource inventories, productive facilities, and international transactions within its shared authoritative World State.
Government revenue, expenditure, financing, and debt are recorded through the applicable fiscal and accounting rules. Monetary and banking operations interact with financial positions, liquidity, and the conditions under which economic activity takes place. A financial claim is not interchangeable with an unrecorded addition to available funds.
Industrial production depends on facilities, materials, energy, labour, and technology. Investment and social development affect productive conditions through the applicable mechanisms and implementation periods. A policy announcement does not instantly create the physical inputs, workforce, or productive capacity needed to fulfil it.
International trade connects counterparties, goods and resource movements, contractual obligations, and the corresponding payment or settlement records. Cross-border economic activity remains subject to each party's authority, available inputs, and the conditions governing the transaction.
Economic conservation rules require changes in funds, resources, goods, and recorded financial positions to have a valid basis under the simulation. Transfers must be reflected in the relevant positions; production and consumption must account for their required inputs and outputs. A resource cannot be created merely by selecting a desirable policy result.
Formal actions are checked against authorisation, funding, inventory, capacity, contractual, timing, and other applicable conditions. The economic transition and its related records are settled together under the authoritative rules. Repeated delivery of the same identified command does not entitle a participant to duplicate economic effects.
Certain actions take effect over time, depend on other actions, or alter the constraints faced by other economies. A valid action may therefore produce delayed, indirect, or strategically unexpected consequences. The simulation distinguishes an intention, a formally processed action, and an economic outcome.
The applicable season and feature rules define the operations available to participants. Their use remains subject to those rules and the assigned Office permissions.
10× Simulation Time#
The simulation clock uses a 10× progression rate: one second of effective real time corresponds to ten seconds of simulation time.
The simulated year consists of 360 simulated days. Applicable pause and resume rules determine which real-time intervals count as effective running time; paused intervals do not advance the clock as though normal simulation operation continued.
Economic processes, policy implementation, scheduled developments, and settlement conditions are evaluated against the relevant simulation time and ordering rules. The applicable season rules govern participation periods and operational notices without implying uninterrupted availability or an arbitrary start date.
This accelerated structure enables participants to examine economic developments and policy consequences over meaningful simulated periods.
Your Experience in the World#
EconMind World is designed to combine strategic depth with an accessible and coherent player experience.
Participants work in teams, assume authorised roles, and coordinate decisions across the functions of their economies.
A typical interaction begins with reviewing the current national situation, including economic indicators, relevant developments, available resources, and emerging challenges.
Participants then assess their priorities, discuss strategies with their teams, and take action through the appropriate Offices.
The recurring decision-making process may be summarised as:
Observe → Analyse → Coordinate → Decide → Act → Evaluate → Adapt
Players are expected not merely to choose an action, but to understand its prerequisites, potential costs, and likely interactions with the wider economic system.
Decision Records & Traceability#
Formal Actions. Recorded Consequences.
The system records formally processed economic commands through a command–event–receipt structure. A command captures a submitted economic instruction subject to authorisation checks; related events, where applicable, record resulting economic facts, and a receipt records the processing outcome.
These records associate the instruction with the responsible actor, economy, Office where applicable, parameters, real and simulation timestamps, outcome, and related changes in the World State. They enable participants and authorised personnel to review what was submitted, how it was processed, and what followed.
A recorded result can explain why a command succeeded, was rejected within the command system, or could not proceed after authorisation changed. A request rejected before it enters that system is not necessarily a persistently recorded command. Browsing, scrolling, typing, and ordinary interface clicks are not, merely by occurring, formal economic commands.
Established authoritative facts are not silently overwritten. Corrections are expressed through linked subsequent events so that the sequence remains understandable. Revoking an authorisation or removing a participant does not, by itself, reverse an already completed transaction or extinguish an accepted contractual obligation.
The record supports economic verification, team analysis, and Final Simulation Reports. Access and personal-information handling are governed by the World Privacy Notice; traceability does not confer unrestricted access or authorise indefinite retention of personal information.
04. Educational Purpose & Philosophy#
Learn Economics by Making Decisions.#
EconMind World supports economic learning through active participation in a complex, evolving, and interconnected simulated environment.
Its educational purpose is to strengthen participants' understanding of economic mechanisms, competing policy objectives, resource constraints, and the consequences of decision-making under uncertainty.
From Economic Theory to Practical Reasoning#
Economics is not limited to the study of prices, output, and economic growth.
It also concerns the allocation of scarce resources, the incentives influencing economic behaviour, and the trade-offs arising when different objectives compete.
EconMind World creates opportunities for participants to apply these concepts through policy decisions, resource management, and economic interaction.
Relevant areas of learning include:
- Scarcity & Opportunity Cost: Resource limitations and the value of foregone alternatives.
- Incentives & Trade-offs: Behavioural responses and competing economic objectives.
- Supply, Demand & Production: Market relationships, productive capacity, and resource allocation.
- Fiscal & Monetary Policy: Government financial decisions and monetary mechanisms.
- International Trade & Interdependence: Economic cooperation, specialisation, and cross-border dependencies.
- Economic Growth & Development: Productive capacity, structural change, and long-term economic performance.
- Uncertainty & Unintended Consequences: The limitations of prediction and the indirect consequences of economic policies.
No individual policy is presumed to be universally optimal.
The performance of a particular strategy depends on the assumptions, constraints, and circumstances under which it is applied.
Systems Thinking#
Participants are encouraged to move beyond individual economic indicators and consider the broader systems through which economic decisions operate.
Higher public investment may improve productive infrastructure while placing additional demands on government finances.
Industrial expansion may increase output and employment while increasing demand for energy, materials, and capital.
International trade may improve access to essential resources while exposing an economy to external dependencies.
Effective decision-making therefore requires an understanding of relationships between economic objectives, resources, institutions, and constraints.
Policy transmission connects an initial decision to its effects through budgets, prices, financing conditions, production, employment, and trade. Those links may involve delays, bottlenecks, competing incentives, and responses by other participants. Evaluating a policy requires examining that chain rather than attributing every subsequent change to the most recent action.
Uncertainty arises both from incomplete information and from the interaction of many decisions. Participants must distinguish a forecast from an observed result, an accounting constraint from a behavioural assumption, and an intended effect from an unintended consequence. Comparison within the simulation can test the consistency of an argument without automatically establishing a real-world counterfactual.
Strategic Reasoning, Negotiation & Collaboration#
EconMind World places particular emphasis on collective decision-making.
Different Offices may evaluate the same issue from different perspectives.
Finance may prioritise budgetary sustainability, Industry may focus on productive capacity, and Labour may place greater emphasis on employment and workforce development.
Participants must reconcile competing objectives, communicate economic arguments, and coordinate action.
At the international level, trade negotiations and diplomatic cooperation introduce additional strategic considerations.
Through participation across schools and economics societies, EconMind World seeks to promote reasoned debate, leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and an appreciation of alternative economic strategies.
Evidence-Based Learning & Reflection#
The Value of a Decision Lies in Both Its Reasoning and Its Consequences.
Economic learning should not be confined to achieving a higher final score.
A meaningful evaluation must also consider why a decision was made, which assumptions informed it, and what occurred after its implementation.
Official action records connect formally processed economic decisions with their corresponding simulation developments. Participants can review the sequence and context of recorded actions, subject to the access rules governing those records.
Such records may support three fundamental questions:
What did we decide?
What policies and actions did the team undertake, and under what economic circumstances?
What happened afterwards?
How did the relevant economic indicators, resource positions, market conditions, and external circumstances change?
What can we learn?
Which assumptions proved useful? Which expectations were not realised? What alternative strategies merit consideration?
The objective is to connect economic reasoning with recorded decisions and observable model outcomes.
Final Simulation Report#
A Structured Record of Decisions and Outcomes.
The platform generates Final Simulation Reports from formal economic operations and corresponding simulation data. Reports bring together significant decisions, policy timelines, economic performance, and relevant outcomes to support decision review, strategic evaluation, team reflection, and academic discussion.
The Full Report is accessible to the relevant team and authorised competition personnel, subject to applicable access and confidentiality requirements. The Public Report is a controlled version from which appropriate personal, restricted, or confidential information is excluded. EconMind manages publication of Public Reports under the competition rules.
A team's closing economic position is considered alongside the sequence of recorded actions and the conditions under which those actions occurred. Reports distinguish recorded facts from participant-supplied explanations and analytical interpretation; an action record does not, by itself, establish a participant's private reasoning or motivation.
The report supports discussion of policy transmission, strategic alternatives, and the interaction of domestic decisions with international developments. It records activity and results within a defined model rather than certifying real-world policy effectiveness or individual professional competence.
Simulated correlations and model outcomes do not, by themselves, establish causal effects in the real economy.
The EconMind Learning Philosophy#
EconMind World follows EconMind's broader educational approach:
Observe → Model → Simulate → Test → Evaluate → Decide
Participants are encouraged to observe economic problems, construct analytical frameworks, explore possible outcomes, test assumptions, evaluate consequences, and revise their decisions accordingly.
The objective is not to promote a single economic doctrine or prescribe a universal policy solution.
It is to cultivate the ability to reason, decide, and adapt within a system characterised by scarcity, competing interests, interdependence, and uncertainty.
There is no universally perfect policy. Every decision involves trade-offs.

06. Rules, Responsibility & Fair Play#
Compete with Strategy. Participate with Respect.#
EconMind World is intended to provide a structured environment for strategic competition, economic negotiation, collaborative problem-solving, and international interaction within a fictional simulation.
Participants may pursue different national objectives, adopt competing economic strategies, negotiate agreements, and engage in policy disagreements.
Such activities are legitimate elements of the simulation when conducted within the applicable rules.
However, participation is conditional upon respect for authorised system access, competition integrity, intellectual property, and the legitimate interests of other participants.
Fair Competition#
All participants are expected to act within their authorised economic roles, institutional responsibilities, and system permissions.
Strategic competition, negotiation, and the legitimate use of available economic mechanisms are permitted.
The following conduct is prohibited:
- Obtaining or exercising unauthorised account, role, or system privileges.
- Deliberately exploiting technical vulnerabilities to circumvent established rules.
- Falsifying economic data, transactions, or official records.
- Interfering with settlement systems or the legitimate operations of other participants.
- Impersonating other players or misrepresenting authority within the platform.
- Engaging in any other conduct expressly prohibited by applicable competition rules.
EconMind reserves the right to address violations through procedures and measures authorised by its official rules and applicable law.
Teamwork & Shared Responsibility#
World Simulation places substantial emphasis on coordinated team decision-making.
Members of an economy are expected to exercise their assigned responsibilities, communicate relevant information, and coordinate policies where their decisions affect other Offices.
Differences of opinion are a legitimate part of economic analysis.
Participants should resolve strategic disagreements through reasoned discussion, evidence, and an understanding of institutional responsibilities.
No participant may assume the authority of another member or exceed assigned permissions without valid authorisation.
Roleplay and Separation from Reality#
EconMind World permits participants to adopt fictional governmental roles, engage in diplomatic negotiations, and pursue competing national strategies within the simulation.
FICTIONAL ROLEPLAY DOES NOT AUTHORISE REAL-WORLD HARASSMENT, DISCRIMINATION, HATEFUL CONDUCT, THREATS, OR OTHER PROHIBITED ATTACKS AGAINST INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS.
Participants must not use fictional national identities, diplomatic disputes, or conflict narratives as a pretext for targeting actual countries, ethnic groups, schools, organisations, or individuals in violation of applicable rules or law.
No in-game action shall automatically be attributed as a real-world political statement by the participant or their affiliated institution.
Integrity of Official Records#
