EconMind League

1 The platform and these Terms#

EconMind League is a student initiated, independently operated online platform for economics education, research sharing and academic exchange across borders. It has an educational and non-profit purpose. It is not a separately incorporated legal person, a registered charity or a registered social organisation. The project name describes the initiative and does not itself identify a legal entity capable of holding every right or entering every contract.

The Leadership Group collectively coordinates the platform. Samuel leads coordination of the economic engine, code and intellectual property; Yale leads funding and organisational governance. These are internal responsibilities. They do not automatically make either person the owner of all works, an agent of every participant or the only person who may have legal obligations. The responsible individuals and their capacities must be identified for a particular contract, receipt of money or personal information activity.

These Terms cover the core educational website and the EconMind League services and channels identified below. They apply together with the Community Guidelines, Academic & Research Integrity policy and Intellectual Property Policy. The Privacy Notice explains personal information practices; accepting these Terms is not blanket consent to every use of personal information. A separate agreement controls its specific subject only to the extent validly agreed by the persons who have authority over it. Mandatory law prevails.

EconMind League is the official name of the initiative. The core economics education website at econmind.group, currently displaying the legacy site label EconMind OS, and its related learning tools fall within these Terms when identified as League services. The League participation area is one part of that wider educational website, not the only area covered. Separately governed services, including EconMind World and Season 1, are outside this set of policies; their rules and operations are not incorporated here.

Samuel and Yale may communicate externally and sign within their respective responsibilities only under a lawful mandate for the identified actual parties. Major commitments require the Leadership Group process described in the internal rules; use of a project title alone does not bind every member. Basic educational participation is free. Voluntary project support is permitted under section 8 and is not a condition of access.

2 Educational use and participation#

Economics models, visualisations, calculations and discussions simplify reality and depend on assumptions, data and implementation choices. They may contain errors or become outdated. They are learning and research tools, not forecasts, guarantees or professional investment, financial, legal, tax, medical or policy advice. Evaluate sources and limitations before relying on an output. Participation does not confer an accredited qualification, official school status or an institutional endorsement.

Use only features actually available to you. A description of an activity or a future feature does not promise that it exists, that access will be granted or that a particular outcome will follow.

3 Eligibility and accounts#

The usual participation threshold is age 14. A person below 14 may participate only where applicable law permits and any required parent or guardian notice, consent and verification have been completed before the relevant collection or use of personal information. Additional protections or consent requirements may apply to people aged 14 and above. If the necessary arrangements are unavailable, the relevant account or activity cannot be offered to that person.

The current registration arrangement asks the user to acknowledge the Terms and declare that they are at least 14 or have guardian permission. It does not independently verify guardian consent. That declaration is not proof that the guardian has been informed, has consented or has been verified. A school or club approval does not automatically replace guardian permission or the platform operators' own obligations. Do not enter a false age or bypass an age restriction.

Registration requires an email address, a username and the credentials for the chosen authentication method. A separate display name, school and grade information are optional. Google Sign-In is optional; a Google sign-in user is not required to disclose their Google password to the platform. Provide accurate account information and keep credentials secure. Do not share a personal account, impersonate another person or use another person's credentials. Email registration and optional Google Sign-In are subject to the options actually offered. Google Sign-In does not grant a leadership or administrative role. Report suspected compromise promptly through admin@econmind.group; never send a password or authentication code in a report.

If a role requires verification, administrators may request proportionate evidence before granting it. Administrative access is limited to the task and authority granted. Account creation, membership and approval of an elevated role are separate decisions.

4 Independent schools and clubs#

Participants and student clubs join independently unless an institution has expressly authorised an arrangement in writing. A participant's school or club name indicates an affiliation reported by that participant. Its inclusion, a map marker, a role label or an administrator's review does not mean the school operates, sponsors, approves or accepts responsibility for EconMind League.

School and club names, cities and regions may be self reported. Map positions are approximate and are not authoritative location data, a statement of a participant's live location or evidence of institutional endorsement. Do not supply a home address or a student's precise location for a map.

Do not claim to bind a school, club, another participant or the Leadership Group without authority. Obtain any permission required to submit an institution's logo, internal materials or contact details. Participation must also comply with applicable local law and lawful school and guardian requirements.

5 Acceptable use#

Use the platform lawfully, honestly and for authorised learning, research or community purposes. Respect other participants, their privacy and their intellectual property. In particular, do not:

  • bypass access controls, misuse an administrative role, scrape private information, introduce malicious code or disrupt services;
  • harass, threaten, discriminate, exploit, intimidate or retaliate against another person;
  • publish unlawful, deceptive or infringing material, personal information without a lawful basis, or private work without permission;
  • falsify an affiliation, attribution, academic record, source, model result or activity record; or
  • use code, content, branding or access credentials beyond the permission granted.

Good faith criticism, independent research, lawful quotation and responsible security reporting are permitted within applicable law and the relevant access rules. Report a vulnerability privately without exploiting it further, accessing unnecessary personal information or publicly exposing a working exploit before it can be assessed.

6 Your submissions and permissions#

You retain the copyright and other rights you hold in your original submissions. Submitting work does not transfer its ownership to the project, its founders or administrators. Submit only material you are entitled to share and identify coauthors, third party materials and restrictions.

For an ordinary submission, you grant the individuals operating the relevant EconMind League service a non-exclusive permission, limited to that service's stated purposes and audience, to host, store, technically reproduce, display, transmit, moderate and make necessary technical formatting changes to it. They may use service providers only as needed for those purposes and with appropriate restrictions. This permission does not authorise sale of your work, unrelated advertising, external commercial sublicensing, AI model training or public release of private submissions.

An audience selected for a submission is not permission to publish it more widely. Permission for optional public display must be obtained separately and specifically. No future club page, public profile or sharing function is treated as already enabled or authorised by these Terms.

Research Library papers and reports remain the property of their authors or other lawful rights holders. Hosting and bibliographic display require an appropriate permission or other lawful basis. The public does not receive a general republication licence merely because a file can be viewed or downloaded.

Core development contributions, economic engine code, designs and official editorial works require a separate contribution record or Contributor License Agreement for the long-term conditional permission described in the Intellectual Property Policy. Account registration or a code submission alone is not an assignment of copyright or acceptance of an unsigned agreement.

You may request correction, removal or an end to optional display through admin@econmind.group. The operators will assess the applicable permission, privacy rights, shared authorship and any lawful record retention. A limited restricted copy may remain where legally necessary for security, dispute resolution or record integrity. There is no general right to keep publishing withdrawn personal information simply because an activity has a history.

School or club coordinators’ names, usernames, roles, profile images and contact details are private by default for directory or publicity display. Publishing these details requires that person’s affirmative, specific permission. A school or club listing and a role appointment do not provide that permission. No current public club page or self-service publication switch is promised.

After proportionate verification of authorship and authority, a Research Library author has a right to request removal of the full text, subject to coauthor rights, valid publisher permissions and mandatory law. The operators will give effect to a valid request within a reasonable period and explain any specific limit. Only necessary, lawfully retained bibliographic and withdrawal records may remain; this is distinct from ending a core software contribution licence.

7 Intellectual property and branding#

Original code, text, images, designs and other protected materials belong to their respective lawful rights holders. Abstract economic ideas, principles and facts are not made exclusively owned by a statement on this website. See the Intellectual Property Policy for permissions and restrictions.

The project's original source code currently has no declared general software licence. Public visibility on GitHub does not make it open source or grant a general right to reproduce, republish, redistribute, modify, deploy or commercially exploit it. Rights under applicable law, existing valid licences and the hosting platform's applicable terms remain unaffected. Third party components retain their own licences.

Use the website through its intended features for the purposes permitted here. No general licence to copy the underlying code, create a competing hosted instance, use unpublished technical materials or present yourself as an official operator is granted. Unauthorised republication or deployment is not permitted.

The EconMind League name, badge and original brand artwork must not be used to suggest unapproved affiliation, sponsorship or authority. Copyright belongs to the relevant creator or other lawful holder; use is administered only within a valid mandate. Written permission is required for branded promotional use beyond lawful factual reference or another applicable legal exception. Preserve required attribution and approved artwork. No trademark registration is claimed by these Terms.

Commercial licensing requires a recorded decision following discussion between the Leadership Group and the Initial Founders, together with effective permission from every relevant rights holder. An internal approval cannot license someone else's copyright or override third party restrictions.

8 Project support funds and other commitments#

Project support may be received directly by the individual who will use it for a stated activity. Before any commitment, the recipient must identify their own name and capacity, the purpose and conditions, any promised benefit, and arrangements for records, unused funds and refunds. A personal receipt is not a donation to a registered charity, an investment or a payment to an incorporated EconMind entity. No tax deductible status is promised.

A person may not offer platform rights, personal information, school endorsement, commercial licences, repayment or another person's commitment without the necessary authority and valid agreement. Internal allocation of a cost or receipt does not determine what a supporter can claim under law. Actual representations, authority, conduct and applicable law may create obligations for a recipient or others. Nothing here excludes those obligations merely because money was received personally or because the initiative is unregistered.

Any paid service, sponsorship benefit or commercial transaction needs separate clear terms identifying the actual parties before acceptance. These Terms do not authorise collecting money or conclude such a transaction.

9 Moderation and review#

Authorised departments may investigate reports and issue warnings, remove content or impose temporary restrictions within their delegated responsibilities. Permanent bans, punitive removal of an important management role and cancellation of an important participation qualification are reserved to the Leadership Group for a recorded collective decision by non-conflicted decision makers. Immediate temporary safeguards may be necessary to address a credible safety, privacy or security risk. Access to evidence must be limited to people who need it.

For a material adverse decision, the affected person should receive an intelligible reason and a way to provide context, subject to protection of others, security and legal restrictions. Material decisions and reasons are to be recorded with limited access. You may ask for reconsideration by emailing admin@econmind.group, including if sign-in is unavailable. Where practicable, a reviewer not involved in the original decision will consider the request. A title or founder status does not put anyone beyond review.

These procedures do not prevent a participant from contacting a regulator, court or other competent authority, making a legally protected disclosure or seeking urgent protection. Internal review is not a mandatory prerequisite to exercising statutory rights.

10 Availability and responsibility#

Services may be changed, interrupted or retired for maintenance, capacity, safety, legal requirements or educational reasons. Reasonable notice and an opportunity to retrieve available personal work should be given where practicable and lawful. No guarantee of uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, universal compatibility or a particular academic result is given. Keep appropriate copies of your own work.

To the extent applicable law permits, the service is provided as available without an additional contractual guarantee of fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable duties concerning personal information, fraud, deliberate wrongdoing, gross negligence, personal injury, consumer protection or intellectual property.

No founder, contributor, leader or participant assumes a guarantee of another person's conduct merely by holding a title or participating. Equally, no title, collective governance arrangement or project name removes responsibility that arises from a person's own conduct, undertaking or legal role. These Terms create no blanket user indemnity, corporate liability shield, waiver of statutory rights or automatic joint responsibility for every participant.

For responsibility and review, distinguish platform-authored materials, individual user submissions, Research Library works and independent third party content. The relevant creator or submitter is responsible for their own contribution and representations as required by law, while actual operators retain the duties arising from their own publication, moderation and data handling. This classification does not transfer every liability to an author or relieve an operator of an independent legal duty.

11 Leaving and changes to these Terms#

You may stop using the platform and request account closure. Content permissions and record retention remain subject to their scope, any separately agreed ending provisions and applicable law. Account closure does not itself transfer or cancel someone else's copyright or erase another participant's rights.

An approved update must state its version and effective date on the Legal page. Material changes must be brought to affected users' attention with a reasonable opportunity to understand them and, where required, agree again or give separate consent. They do not retroactively expand a creator's licence, authorise a new data use or bind users merely because the project silently edits a page.

12 Questions and disputes#

Contact admin@econmind.group for legal, access, privacy, intellectual property or moderation concerns. A signed-in support form may also be used where it is available; losing account access does not remove the email route. Identity may need to be checked in a proportionate way before private records are disclosed or changed. These channels are not continuously monitored emergency services.

The platform operates across borders without a declared single principal operating location. No exclusive court, compulsory arbitration or universal choice of law is imposed by this review text. Applicable mandatory law and the jurisdiction of competent authorities are preserved. A separate contract may specify a lawful governing law and dispute process once the actual parties and locations are identified.
